Quadrantids Meteor Shower 2020

Composite of Lyrid and non-Lyrid meteors, over New Mexico April 21-23, 2012. (NASA/MSFC/Danielle Moser)

The 2020’s first major meteor shower is the Quadrantid shower. The best time to watch is late night January 3 until dawn January 4. Northerly latitudes are better. There will be no moon in the predawn hours (2 a.m. until dawn).

Moon free skies mean great viewing. In a dark sky you could see 50-100 per hour! There is no guarantee but you might get lucky! Look below the handle of the big dipper for you best chance a seeing a show. Best viewing is early morning hours of January 4th
