As you can see from the current SDO image to the right there are some rather nasty looking sun spots facing Earth right now. These are acting up and NOAA issued a space weather alert on August 24 at 0146 UTC

ALERT: Type II Radio Emission
Begin Time: 2014 Aug 24 0015 UTC
Estimated Velocity: 471 km/s

Description: Type II emissions occur in association with eruptions on the sun and typically indicate a coronal mass ejection is associated with a flare event.
